Church Road ONE Syrah 2020

Church Road One is a range of single vineyard wines that typify the character and personality of their best winegrowing sites.

Syrah is fast becoming a key variety for Hawke's Bay and New Zealand, producing distinctive, complex and aromatic wines of exceptional quality that are achieving international acclaim. In 2017, UK’s Drinks Business International recognized Hawke’s Bay as one of the four best regions in the world for Syrah.

2020 Church Road 1 was grown on a single block on the warm stony soils of the Gimblett Gravels Winegrowing District™. This is a fragrant, supple and full bodied Syrah exuding dark berry fruit, lifted floral and spice aromas, and a powerful palate structure that will reward cellaring.

A robust and characterful red with generous, juicy, dark berry fruit, lifted violet floral notes and exotic spice typical of this block. The palate is full bodied with good mid palate richness, and chunky, ripe tannins with a slight rustic edge.

While approachable now, this wine will age positively for 15 plus years if cellared well.

Well matched to a range of meat and game. Particularly grilled meats which will pair beautifully with the ripe and robust tannin structure.
