  • Description

Wines of refinement that demonstrate the pinnacle of Stoneleigh winemaking. This single vineyard range takes the best elements of Stoneleigh and adds in a number of extra dimensions resulting in refined, premium quality wines with more complexity which deliver the most intense expression of Marlborough. This range takes its name from the distinctive stony soils on which the Stoneleigh vineyards are located.

The wine has a dark, plummy hue with vibrant raspberry and cherry notes. Smokey, toasty oak also features. The palate is rich and warm, with perfumed Black Doris plum, blackberry and raspberry notes, with finely integrated charry oak. Layers of complexity coupled with finely textured silky tannins round off the palate.

This wine has been matured and is ready to drink now, but could be cellared over the next six years while savoury complexity develops.

This wine is the perfect match for flame grilled rib-eye steak served with a redcurrant jus, or a seared venison loin with wild mushroom risotto.

14.5% abv. Marlborough, New Zealand.

Stoneleigh Vineyard is situated in the heart of the Rapaura area on the northern side of the Wairau valley in Marlborough, New Zealand. Within 2km of the Wairau River and the Richmond Ranges, our home lies within an area known locally as the ‘Golden Mile’ of vineyards. As evidence of an ancient riverbed, Stoneleigh takes its name from the stones that cover our vineyard – land that’s now home to some of the oldest grafted Sauvignon Blanc blocks in Marlborough. The stones store and reflect the sun’s heat up into the vines, enhancing the ripening process and contributing to the unique taste of Stoneleigh wines.
